No baby geese (geese) "dumb"?
We have a flock of geese and there was only one nest of babies. One of the infants was lame for some reason and the mother / father abandoned her. We took the nurse back to health (cardboard box, the heat lamp, etc.). It's getting better, but now is beginning to withdraw their hatching fuzz on one side by the wing. Is this normal? It seems that the barbs might come after her, but not sure. Just want to know if this is normal? The baby is about 3-4 weeks of age.
Its normal not to be "soft" forever. I have 3 weeks old chicks and are now almost entirely of feathers, passes very quickly. All young birds lose their feathers grow downwards and a few appropriate weeks of age. The goose is probably more grooming as their own and get bored because they do not have the distractions of "family life" as geese to other parents. Make sure you have plenty of water to dabble in.
